Hi, I’m Melissa
Hi, I’m Melissa Jin, a photographer based in Boston, MA. My passion for photography began as a child on a family vacation to Banff, Canada, where I discovered the magic of capturing moments through a lens. I was delighted by how carrying a camera gave me a deeper appreciation for the present—helping me pause to notice the small details, like how the light dances across a rippling lake or catches the edge of a mountain peak at golden hour.
My journey with photography took a new turn when I picked up an old 1970s film camera from a thrift store. I had no idea if it would work, but I decided to test it out. Shooting with film felt completely different from digital—it required patience, precision, and trust in the process. Unlike digital photography, where you can take endless shots, film taught me to slow down, be intentional, and value each frame.
The shots that bring me the most joy are the ones that are unposed and unplanned—the fleeting moments that tell a story, filled with raw emotion and authenticity. Whether it’s a quiet glance between loved ones, a burst of laughter, or the way light spills into a room just right, those are the moments I live to capture.
Thanks for stopping by—feel free to explore my work, connect with me, or reach out if you'd like to collaborate!
